My place beside you, my blood for yours. Till the Green Ember rises, or the end of the world.

Heather and Picket are extraordinary rabbits with ordinary lives until calamitous events overtake them, spilling them into a cauldron of misadventures. They discover that their own story is bound up in the tumult threatening to overwhelm the wider world.

Kings fall and kingdoms totter. Tyrants ascend and terrors threaten. Betrayal beckons, and loyalty is a broken road with peril around every bend.

Where will Heather and Picket land? How will they make their stand?

Review
This story has so many good things in it! The characters were great and their struggles were so real. At first I thought it was going to be weird what with them being rabbits and all but, really, I forgot they weren’t human! XD I absolutely loved Heather and Pickett and can’t wait to continue their journeys!

That being said, I mean, I really did enjoy it. But at the same time I don’t entirely understand the huge hype surrounding this book. Maybe I’ll understand better as I continue the series? It was incredible and I would love to reread it! But, yeah. That’s why I didn’t give it five stars because I didn’t fall in love with it like I thought I would.

I would definitely recommend it though! It was super fun and I loved a lot of things from it! Truly, an incredible story!!

Your turn!

Have you ever read The Green Ember? Do you enjoy stories with nonhuman characters? What do you think about middle grade?

  1. Great review!!! Lol, yeah, you HAVE to keep reading the series to understand the hype…at the very least Ember Falls, the second book, which might actually be my favorite book in the series. 😭 ❤ The end is SO worth it! (To me, anyway XDD)

I'm so glad you enjoyed it, though! 😀

  2. Good review! I have never read this book, but I think I’ve seen it on Libby or somewhere similar. I enjoy reading books to my little siblings, so I read quite a bit of middle grade books. Do you remember if there were any big content warnings? 🙂

    1. Thanks! You should read it!! I read it through Libby (but then realized there were illustrations so I got it through my library and followed along with the audiobook XD). 😄 Oh, how fun! No, it was a really clean book. I can’t think of a single thing!! S.D. Smith did a really great job!
