Get to Know My Character | blog tag

Hey, everyone! It’s been a long time since I’ve participated in a blog tag. Like, a really long time… (Oops?) Anyways! Thanks, Vonnie, for the tag (you can find her post here)! This looks like a load of fun and I can’t wait to have my character answer them all (and for you all to get to know this character… I love him but I know I’m partial…). Also, a huge thanks to M.L. Milligan for letting me know that I’d been tagged. Y’all should definitely check out her post as well! I can’t wait to read her character’s answers!!

If you’ve been around here for any length of time then I’m sure you’ve heard me refer to the novel that I’m currently editing. It seems like I’ve been editing this novel for a lifetime… Two or three months counts as a lifetime, right? Well, today you’re going to get to meet the main character from that novel! I’m super excited so let’s jump right into this!

Rules

  • Mention the creator, Anna. (pingback to the original post.)
  • Include the graphic in your post.
  • Thank the person that tagged you (and include the link to THEIR post so they know you’ve done the tag!).
  • Answer ahem, ask one of your characters to answer these questions! (Make sure they read all the rules too!)
  • Have your character answer all the questions.
  • Nominate as many or as few people as you like!
  • Have fun! (Because, what’s the purpose of a tag if it isn’t fun?!?!)
  • Also, please fill out this quick, little thing (https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSc6l4pmRIU81efz6OI4FK82rAmHO9LCsySvZ5CJQ33W6J7LiQ/viewform?usp=sf_link) out so Anna knows how many people have done it!

What’s your full name?

Oliver Kayne. No nicknames. No pet names. I go by Oliver and Oliver only.

How old are you?

17 but I turn 18 at the beginning of my book. Let’s not talk about birthdays though…

Where do you live? (You can be as specific as you want)

In a small apartment with my best friend in London, England.

What has been your greatest achievement in life?

I haven’t had any great achievements in my life. My life has been rather meaningless and bland. Unless you count all the awesome pranks I’ve pulled on friends and family members, that is… Those are definitely worth mentioning.

Do you have friends? Enemies?

I have my best friend, Edmond Latrell. We’ve known each other our entire lives, I couldn’t ask for a better partner in crime (not literal crimes though… don’t want that to be confused…).

Sometimes it feels as though the whole world is my enemy. But for more specific foes, there is a guy that seems to be out to harm me. It’s all a bit confusing. I have no idea who he is or what to call him, all I know is an initial: M.

What’s your hobby/hobbies?

Besides pulling pranks? Okay, Edmond’s telling me I need to list something else. Well, I love solving mysteries and some people tell me I actually have a knack for it. *shrug* I just want to see justice served and the bad guys put where they belong. It brings a real satisfaction.

How would you describe your personality? Introvert, extrovert, neat, not-so neat, etc.

I’m definitely not an introvert. I’ve never struggled with talking with strangers or anyone for that matter. But people?… Why would you purposely be around them? Give me a book and a rainy day to sit next to a fireplace any day. As for tidiness… achem… Okay, Edmond’s glaring at me. Fine. I’m not a very orderly person. There. Happy? Okay, he’s stopped glaring at me. But in all fairness, I always know exactly where everything is.

Describe your family. Siblings, parents, pets, etc.

. . .

Family?

Let’s just say we were once the best family I could have ever dreamed of having. That changed. Everything changed when my brother disappeared. That’s all I wish to say on the subject.

I don’t have any pets.

Walnuts and Brownies, yay or nay? (I feel like this is an important question)

Can’t say that I’ve ever tried this. Thanks no thanks for mentioning it though because now Edmond’s going to make us eat it and the thought of walnuts in my brownies… it doesn’t set well.

Favorite book to read? Or if you don’t like to read, something else you like to do?

Books have always been a safe place for me. My favorite book to read is King Arthur and His Knights by Howard Pyle. I have a lot of childhood memories surrounding that book. My brother used to read it to me before bed and sometimes we would act out the scenes.

. . .

Again, not a topic I like to discuss.

BONUS! If you had a choice, what would you tell your author? Would you want her to change your story? Explain.

I can’t think of anything that I would want her to change. Except maybe to cut out some of the hurt that I have to go through. But that’s life, isn’t it? *sigh* All I ask for is a happy ending. *looks to author* Happy ending… right?

We’ll see. 😇

You’ve been TAGGED!

M.L. Milligan

Saraina Whitney

Sisters Three

Grace Johnson

You’ll have to tell me in the comments below what you thought of Oliver! I had so much fun doing this interview with him! I love this book that he’s in so, so much and I can’t wait for the day that I can share it with you all. I hope you love it as much as I do.

Edits have been a hard journey but I’m making it through. And as of this very moment (hold your breath, it could pass any second XD) I’m actually really enjoying editing. There’s something beautiful about taking a messy first draft and turning it into something you feel semi confident about sharing with people.

Yes, it’s a confusing mess of emotions. But I’ll take anything that isn’t pure hatred for the story. XD

Speaking of edits… that’s where I need to head for next. *sigh* First another cup of tea. 😉

Your turn!

Are there any additional questions you’d like to ask Oliver? How is your writing going? Who’s the main character in your story?

Blessings, Allyson

  1. Oh my goodness, I knew I’d love him once I saw his name was Oliver!!! (Hehe, I love that name XD) And it’s in London, England? WHEN CAN I READ THIS? I absolutely loved his questions (but am very nervous for him…what are you putting this poor boy through?) and love the mystery vibes I’m getting from this. I’ve been so curious about your WIP, so thank you SO much for doing this tag, Allyson!!! ❤ 😀

    1. Eeeeh!! I’m so glad you liked it so much!! It was a little nerve wracking to share when I really haven’t shared all that much about it thus far. My writer heart is happy! 😂💙 But, yes!! I love the name Oliver so, so much! I’ve always known I needed a character named that. And now I do!
Haha! XD I can’t wait for the day it’s available to the world!! I mean, that’s a very scary thought, but exciting all in one!! (Mwahaha… 😏… All I can say, is that I’m not a writer who puts characters through pain for the fun of it. Sadly, all of it is necessary. 💔)
Yess!! I’m a huge fan of mysteries, personally. This book is inspired by Sherlock Holmes so it definitely has those vibes, which is SO fun! XD You’re welcome!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! 🤗💙 Thanks for reading!
