Nancy, unaided, seeks to find a missing will. To the surprise of many, the Topham family will inherit wealthy Josiah Crowley’s fortune, instead of deserving relatives and friends who were promised inheritances. Nancy determines that a clue to a second will might be found in an old clock Mr. Crowley had owned and she seeks to find the timepiece. Her search not only tests her keen mind, but also leads her into a thrilling adventure.

Everyone always talks about this being one of their favorite series from their childhood but I never read them when I was younger. It wasn’t until just recently that I read this book. I was a little unsure if I would like it and if it would be more for younger readers. But, let me tell you, I absolutely loved it!!
I’m still unsure how she did it but Carolyn Keene crafted a mystery that had me on the edge of my seat until the end. All the characters were super likeable as well which is a huge plus for me. Nancy especially is so sweet. I love her! Though the mystery isn’t always the hardest to figure out (especially since the title always gives it away, lol) they’re still a blast to read and I’m loving them all!
If you haven’t read the series and was wondering, like I was, if you would enjoy it because you’re a little older than the target audience, don’t worry. Try it anyways! I think you’ll be falling in love with them just like I am.
“Read, read, read. That’s all I can say.”
― Carolyn Keene, The Secret of the Old Clock

Your turn!
Have you ever read the Nancy Drew series? Do you enjoy mysteries? Do you enjoy reading books for younger readers?

Ohhh, I love the Nancy Drew books!!! And yes, I enjoy reading books for younger readers – more specifically, books I loved when I was younger, because it’s SO fun looking back and remembering all the characters I loved… haha!! 😀

I used to love reading the Nancy Drew books so much! I got up to around 32 of them before I got sick of the same old plot line and then started the Hardy Boys, of which I got up to I think 21…Then I discovered Agatha Christie! Definitely not sick of Christie’s books, not even sure it’s possible! 🙂

Oof, I think I tried reading this book or another Nancy Drew book in my childhood since Nancy Drew was a seemingly popular series?? But I don’t think I made it through LOL! Perchance I should try again…

I don’t think I knew about Nancy Drew when I was younger! I don’t know if I’m glad or not because I’m really enjoying them now but I think I also would have enjoyed them then, if not more then. Haha! You should definitely try them again!! Obviously, they’re not for everyone, but I’m really enjoying them!
